Principal Bulletin Informational

Assembly Bill 1817, signed last year by Governor Brown and recognized by Secretary of State Alex Padilla, designates the last two full weeks in September as High School Voter Education Weeks. In compliance with this bill, the Sacramento County Department of Voter Registration and Elections will be conducting High School Educational Mock Elections, September 14, 2015 through September 25, 2015. All schools in the County of Sacramento are invited to participate in this informative and rewarding experience.

The goal of the Educational Mock Elections is to present an authentic voting experience for all students. Students will leave the mock election event educated, informed and inspired for the future. The process of the mock election consists of:

  • Overview of the importance of registering and voting
  • Real voting on ballots created for their age group
  • Polling place experience
  • Gifts and prizes
  • Opportunity to register to vote
