SCUSD Offers Free Services to Parents at Saturday’s ‘School Readiness Fair’
Hundreds of parents are expected to take advantage of a host of free services – from immunizations to child health screenings – at SCUSD’s School Readiness Fair on Saturday.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Serna Center, 5735 47th Ave., Sacramento.
The fair is sponsored by SCUSD’s Child Development Department and Partners for School Readiness, including Kaiser Permanente, First 5 Sacramento and the Sacramento Municipal Utilities District (SMUD).
At the fair, parents will be able to:
Immunize children ages 0 to 5 (for qualifying families – shot record required) Take part in free child health and developmental screenings Acquire kindergarten registration and preschool enrollment information Apply for SCUSD’s Pre-Kindergarten Summer Camp (student birth certificate required) Get connected with community resources Enroll in a health insurance program (birth certificate, proof of income within the last 45 days required)
The goal of the fair is to give parents a head start on getting young children ready for school or pre-school in the fall. It also gives SCUSD a chance to connect with parents before the start of a new school year. “This is a great opportunity for us to engage with our community,” said Superintendent Jonathan Raymond. “We look forward to a great turnout.”
