Sacramento City Unified and Teamsters Classified Supervisors Local 150 leaders reach tentative labor agreement

Press release

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento City Unified School District and leaders of the Teamsters Classified Supervisors Local 150 Union today issued the following joint statement regarding a tentative agreement on a three-year contract:

“We want to ensure that every student has an equal opportunity to graduate with the greatest number of postsecondary choices and we all agree that our students need a positive and safe environment for a successful learning environment. The work performed by Teamsters Classified Supervisors (TCS) Local 150, formerly Classified Supervisors Association (CSA), is critical in order to help us achieve this goal. The three-year tentative agreement we have reached will help the district retain and recruit the qualified employees necessary to support safe, properly maintained and efficient operating schools. The tentative agreement is for a 3-year contract from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020, with opportunities for renegotiation in the 2nd and 3rd years. Highlights of the agreement include:

  • 2 percent salary increase, effective July 1, 2019.
  • Health benefits coverage will increase from 75 percent for member only to 100 percent of the cost of the Kaiser HMO Employee Only Plan. In addition, the District will contribute 100% of the Employee +1 of the Kaiser HMO Plan dollar amount toward any plan chosen. The unit members must be enrolled in one of the District’s health plans offered by the District to receive this contribution.
  • Each member will begin making OPEB contributions in 2018-2019 to help the district pay down its unfunded liability for retiree health benefits. The amount of the contributions will be 1/3 of 1 percent of salary for each member.
  • All earned vacation hours accrued beyond five days must be either used or will be cashed out each year.

The Teamsters Classified Supervisors Local 150 has taken the tentative agreement to its members and voting took place on January 8, 2018. The votes resulted in passing the tentative agreement. Upon approval, the Board of Education will vote to approve the agreement. The Teamsters Classified Supervisors Local 150 and district look forward to continuing working together to make Sacramento City Unified schools choice destinations for students and families across California.”
