I’ve read that teachers are already giving back $2,250 annually to the district. Is that true?

In lieu of taking furlough days, as other employees do, the Sacramento City Teachers Association (SCTA) agreed to contribute $95 a month to the district from July 2010 through June 30 of this year.  As 10-month employees, this contribution totals $950 annually.  SCTA also agreed to have teachers contribute $15 a month toward our unfunded retiree health insurance liability in 2010-11 and $20 a month in 2011-12, for a total of $350 over a two-year period. This also expires June 30.  It was SCTA’s proposal to make this contribution to help protect retiree health benefits.  An account separate from the district’s general fund was created to hold these funds.
