Can the deficit be closed with money from the California Lottery?
Although all revenue is welcome, Lottery money represents only a fraction of SCUSD’s budget. In 2011-12, for example, just 1.5 percent of the district’s revenue came from Lottery funds. This $6.17 million was put into the General Fund, which is used to pay employee salaries, benefits and other expenses.
