It’s almost back-to school time. Sacramento City Schools start September 2nd. Use the supply lists below to make sure your student is prepared. Remember, each classroom will have their own specific requirements so you may have to supplement once you know what those are.

If you have any questions about the first day of school or what your child needs to bring, please contact your school directly. 

Classroom Supplies

Here are some general supplies to consider donating to your child’s classroom. 

  • Packs of facial tissue
  • Antibacterial gel
  • Loose-leaf lined paper (wide-ruled for elementary and college-ruled for secondary)
  • Copy paper
  • Dry Erase Markers
  • 3-Ring Binders
  • Paper Towels
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Toilet Paper

Student Supplies by Grade Level

Below are ideas to get you started preparing your student for the new school year. 

Elementary School

  • Backpack large enough to fit a lunch box, folders, and supplies
  • Lunch box
  • Box of crayons
  • Washable markers (8-count)
  • Glue sticks
  • No. 2 pencils
  • Large pink eraser
  • Safety scissors
  • Plastic toolbox to store crayons, markers and other supplies
  • Small pencil sharpener

Middle School

  • Agenda or planner to keep track of homework assignments
  • Backpack
  • 3-Ring binder and Spiral Notebooks
  • Binder dividers
  • Compass (one without a sharp metal point will be the safest)
  • A folder per subject for handouts
  • Three-subject spiral notebook
  • 2 highlighters in different colors
  • No. 2 pencils
  • Loose-leaf paper (wide-ruled)
  • Pens
  • Protractor
  • Ruler
  • Mini stapler
  • Zip drive or USB drive to save work done on home and school computers

High School

  • Agenda or planner to keep track of homework assignments
  • Backpack
  • Binder dividers
  • 3-Ring Binders and Spiral Notebooks
  • Calculator, if allowed
  • 2 highlighters in different colors
  • No. 2 pencils
  • Loose-leaf paper (college-ruled)
  • Graph paper
  • Black and blue inked pens
  • Ruler
  • Mini stapler
  • Zip drive or USB drive to save work done on home and school computers

    

Supply lists are suggestions intended to guide families that wish to provide supplies for their child or to donate materials to a classroom or school and are not intended as a requirement for full participation in an academic program.
