School Climate Subcommittee
The overall climate of each school in the District is critical to ensuring a positive learning environment for all students. While individual schools in the District have shifted their discipline policies and practices toward more restorative practices and the Board has adopted a revised policy on discipline, implementation varies between schools.
At the same time, the District has become a state leader in implementing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies, but we note that the existing LCAP does not clearly describe how the District intends to achieve the decreases in absenteeism, suspensions, expulsions, and dropouts that it projects.
