Initial Charter Petition Process

  • Review Petitioner Requirements
  • Review Charter Administrative Regulations, Board Policies, and Resolutions
  • Meet with the Charter Department at least 30 days prior to petition submission
  • Petitions must be delivered to the Office of the Superintendent during regular business days and hours
  • Petitions must submitted between September 1 and March 1 to begin operations for the following school year
  • Public Hearing will be held no later than 30 days after petition submission
  • Board Action will be held no later than 60 days after petition submission, provided, however, that the date be extended for an additional 30 days upon written mutual agreement
