Earl Warren Elementary School students, with the help of The
Kings, attempted to jump into the Guinness Book of World Records
on Tuesday, October 11, as part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s
“Let’s Jump!” obesity-awareness campaign.
The event began with a “Get Fit with the Kings!” rally featuring
Kings’ representatives and dancers.
Students at Hiram Johnson High School — an SCUSD “Priority
School” targeted for turnaround — celebrated their achievements
in academics and physical fitness during two high-energy rallies
with the Sacramento Kings on Friday.
Johnson students scored significant gains on the California
Standards Tests (CSTs), a series of exams taken last spring.
Overall, the school rose 59 points on the state’s Academic
Performance Index (API), which measures school improvement and
growth.
