BASIC FUNCTION:
Manage district information
systems including telecommunications, standard applications, hardware,
network infrastructure, and end-user support; supervise, develop, and
evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; develop long-range plans;
review and communicate information systems and telecommunications
policies.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Plan,
organize, control, and direct the day-to-day operations of one or more of
the Information Services Department’s primary functions: education and
administrative technology, telecommunications, network support,
applications management, and customer support.
Develop
and recommend information systems improvements to increase efficiency and
security. Identify, research and analyze problems, and execute solutions.
Establish, coordinate, and revise information systems and
telecommunications standards.
Hire,
supervise, and evaluate assigned staff members; organize and provide
training and tools necessary to complete projects.
Provide
technical expertise, knowledge, and long-range planning for information
systems including student, finance, human resources, the Internet, and
others requiring full understanding of computer hardware, software, and
infrastructure procedures and development.
Conduct
and attend meetings, resolve ad-hoc problems, provide directives and
guidance for staff, district personnel, and the public; execute special
assignments.
Advise
and assist users of computers and information systems; determine and
evaluate user needs; develop manuals and other training aids as needed;
consistently review and revise processes and procedures based on changing
technology.
Assist
school and department personnel in understanding, executing, and fully
utilizing available information systems; coordinate plans to implement new
systems or procedures among site, department, and district office staff
members.
Develop
technical specifications for out-sourcing agreements, meet with vendors,
analyze and manage contracts, and monitor vendor progress and adherence to
agreements and specifications.
Perform
research and analyze data using computer database, spreadsheet, word
processing, presentation, and communications software programs.
Confer
and work cooperatively with other Information Services staff, district
administrators, site personnel, department representatives, and members of
the public regarding technical issues, operational factors, and costs
related to information system decisions.
Perform
related duties as assigned.
TRAINING, EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE:
A
bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with an
emphasis in information systems, computer science, or other related field;
and three years of experience, preferably in an educational environment,
in any combination of: computer systems support, applications development,
or local area network planning and implementation.

Valid
California driver’s license and provide personal automobile.
