BASIC FUNCTION:
Plan, organize, develop,
coordinate, and implement the activities of the Purchasing, Warehouse, and
Printing Centers of the district.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Plan,
organize, and supervise the work of the Purchasing, Warehouse, and
Printing Center staff.
Establish
district purchasing policies and procedures in accordance with state and
federal laws and regulations.
Coordinate
the activities of the Warehousing and Printing Center staff to achieve
maximum productivity and timely delivery.
Provide
inservice training for Purchasing, Warehousing, and Printing Center staff,
and supervise subordinates concerning department activities.
Supervise the receipt,
examination, and approval of requisitions for district supplies and
equipment. Monitor selection of warehouse stock items to assure that
products comply with state and federal requirements.
Establish
the best sources of supply and the development of a responsible bidder
list.
Interview
salespersons and vendors about details of purchasing operations, such as
types of material required, specifications, bids and quotations, and
complaints.
Supervise
the maintenance of a vendor catalog file and the district’s fixed
assets.
Prepare
specifications for advertised bids, analyze bids received, and prepare
agenda items recommending award of contracts to Board of Education.
Supervise
the maintenance of records providing current information on purchases
completed, purchases in process, and sources of supply for each warehouse
stock item.
Supervise
the storing and maintenance of supplies, furniture, and cafeteria foods;
monitor warehouse inventory levels.
Prepare
periodic and special reports about printing production, purchasing
activities, and supplies.
Provide
assistance to district staff in obtaining equipment and supply
information, specifications, catalogs, and assistance from vendor sales
staff if needed; assist in identifying printing strategies.
Provide
for maintenance of warehouse equipment and vehicles and plans for
replacements as needed.
Perform
related duties as assigned.
TRAINING, EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE:
Any
combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree, and two years increasingly
responsible supervisory experience in a purchasing or warehouse
environment.
LICENSES
AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid
California driver’s license, and provide personal automobile.
