BASIC FUNCTION:

Perform duties in areas pertaining to disposal of surplus property, joint use of district facilities, alternative use of school sites, school site boundary changes, demographic studies, grants and state funding, internal equipment/material controls, budget analysis, training, and planning.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Prepare and submit all state-funded applications and plans.

Conduct annual studies of developer fees.

Assist in the coordination, negotiation, implementation, and supervision of the sale, disposal, trade, acquisition, or lease of district sites and facilities.

Develop marketing strategies for leasing and disposal of district surplus properties.

Conduct studies for adjusting, aligning, or developing new school boundaries as needed.

Update education specifications to meet changing program needs.

Develop and maintain school capacity data.

Develop and update timelines for the acquisition and construction of new facilities and the repair, reconstruction, or relocation of existing facilities.

Plan and coordinate joint use of district facilities with federal, state, and local government agencies.

Implement and maintain guidelines for joint use.

Prepare draft district policies and regulations related to joint use of district facilities.

Provide management and direction for Custodial Operations Department.

Supervise and evaluate Assistant Operations Supervisors and support staff.

Automate and maintain cost effectiveness of programs, equipment, supplies, and procedures.

Direct the preparation of the budget and the planning and control of expenditures, including the testing of supplies and new equipment.

Revise and approve personnel transactions.

Responsible for training, safety, performance standards, and discipline.

Perform related duties as assigned.

TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field, and four years of increasingly responsible supervisory work in the operation of a large maintenance operations division.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

Valid California driver’s license, and provide personal automobile.

Principles and procedures related to submission of state-funded applications.

Collection and allocation of developer fees.

District organization, operations, policies, and procedures.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.

Oral and written communication skills.

Technical aspects of field of specialty.

ABILITY TO:

Interpret and apply laws, rules, and standards.

Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
