|
BASIC FUNCTION:
Plan, organize, control, and
direct the Health Services of the district; review, develop, and
communicate health policies to others; supervise and evaluate the
performance of assigned personnel.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Plan,
organize, control, and direct a variety of programs, services, and
activities related to the Health Services of the district; visit sites and
monitor or participate in health-related activities.
Integrate
system-wide school health programs with the district Community Health
Education Support System, Special Education, and 504 Rehabilitation
Services.
Review,
develop, and communicate health policies to others; provide consultation
to personnel regarding health issues.
Provide
orientation and in-service for school nurses, aides, and other employee
groups.
Serve
on a variety of committees and attend various district and community
meetings regarding health issues.
Order
and maintain inventory; assign equipment and supplies.
Provide
technical expertise regarding assigned functions; formulate and develop
policies and procedures.
Develop
and implement long and short-term plans and activities.
Direct
the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical
reports, records, and files; compile and submit reports to state agencies
and the board as appropriate.
Communicate
with other administrators, district personnel, and contractors to
coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts, and
exchange information regarding health services programs.
Supervise
and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; interview and select
employees and recommend transfers, reassignments, termination and
disciplinary actions; plan, coordinate, and arrange for appropriate
training of subordinates; arrange for substitutes as needed.
Manage
and implement LEA Medi-Cal billing among district Community Health
Education Support System personnel including school nurses, psychologists,
social workers, and counselors.
Develop
and prepare the annual budget for the health department; analyze and
review budgetary and financial data; monitor and authorize expenditures in
accordance with established guidelines.
Perform
related duties as assigned.
TRAINING, EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s
degree; advanced degrees in public health or health education are
preferred. Five years of full-time school nursing or allied nursing
experience; five years of supervisory, management, or administrative
public health nursing experience.
LICENSES
AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid
California driver’s license; Health and Development Credential or School
Nurse Services Credential; and Administrative Services Credential or
eligibility for the Administrative Internship Program upon appointment to
the position. (The Administrative Internship Program is only applicable to
permanent or probationary in-district Sacramento City Unified School
District employees.)
