BASIC FUNCTION:

 

Direct, plan, coordinate, and supervise the district’s Student Success Centers and Career and Technical Preparation Programs to provide comprehensive employment and training preparation services; coordinate districtwide access to resources from business partnerships.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: (Incumbents may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below [E]. Direct, plan, coordinate, and supervise the district’s Student Success Centers and Career and Technical Preparation Programs to provide comprehensive employment and training preparation services; coordinate districtwide access to resources from business partnerships.  E

 

Provide leadership in the development of certificates of Initial Mastery and Certificates of Advanced Mastery in the areas of career and technical preparation.  E

 

Plan, coordinate, and supervise the districtwide access to student internships, job shadowing, employer-led advisory committees, and work experience opportunities.  E

 

Ensure program effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance with district policy, state and federal laws and regulations, and contractual agreements.  E

 

Work collaboratively with district school site staff to plan integration/coordination of curriculum and instruction for each career pathway.  E

 

Assist in the development and assessment of programs with resulting recommendations for increased effectiveness and efficiency.  E

 

Act as a liaison with LEED Sacramento for activities related to districtwide coordination of access to employer resources.  E

 

Work with school sites to develop a system of integrated services to best meet the career development needs of the students.  E

 


Provide leadership within the Career and Technical Preparation Department to identify and secure funding from special local, state, federal, and private sources.  E

 

Attend conferences, read journals/papers, take courses, and attend workshops to remain current concerning trends in career and technical preparation.  E

 

Perform related duties as assigned.

 

TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree, four years increasingly responsible supervisory experience, and three years of teaching experience.

 

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

 

Valid California driver’s license; provide personal automobile; Administrative Services Credential.

Planning, organization, and direction of Career and Technical Education.

Budget preparation and control.

Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures related to Career and Technical Education Programs.

Effective management practices and supervision techniques.

School district organization, operations, policies, and objectives.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Technical aspects of field of specialty.

Operation of a computer terminal and data entry techniques.

 

ABILITY TO:

Direct, plan, coordinate, and supervise assigned programs.

Coordinate districtwide access to resources from business partnerships.

Provide leadership in the development of certificates of mastery.

Review and analyze the district’s current position for compliance.

Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.

Prepare comprehensive narrative and statistical reports.

Maintain current knowledge of advances in the educational field.

Interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Analyze situations accurately, and adopt an effective course of action.

Plan and organize work.

Operate a computer terminal to enter data, maintain records, and generate reports.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Prepare and deliver presentations.

Work independently with little direction to meet schedules and timelines.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Office environment; driving a vehicle to conduct work.

 


SAMPLE PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Hearing and speaking to make presentations, exchange information, and conduct work; seeing to read, prepare documents and reports, and monitor programs; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally; lifting light objects.
