BASIC FUNCTION:

Support the Bowling Green Charter School Complex so that the education provided to students is among the best in the United States of America.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Work with charter school and prospective charter school principals and staff to: (1) identify strategies to support teaching and instruction; (2) interpret data; and (3) evaluate practices so that the program at the Charter School Complex becomes one of the best in the United States of America.

Supervise and evaluate the performance of: (1) the principals at the Bowling Green Charter School Complex; and (2) the support staff assigned to the Charter School Complex (e.g., math coach, counselor, nurse, plant manager, hall monitor, charter schools complex secretary, and school community liaisons).

Manage the fiscal operation of the Charter School Complex.

Coordinate the elimination of concapping students from the Bowling Green attendance area.

Supervise the Center for Orthopedically Handicapped Students.

Organize the intersession program for the Charter School Complex.

Act as liaison with Sacramento City Unified School District department staff and the Charter School Complex.

Perform related duties as assigned by the Steering Committee.

TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree, three years increasingly responsible supervisory experience, including at least two years experience as a charter school principal and two years teaching experience.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

Valid California driver’s license and able to provide own transportation to meetings held in various locations; Administrative Services Credential.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Charter schools and school reform.

School budgeting and accounting procedures.

Current management principles and practices.

Current instructional principles and practices.

Educational research and evaluation techniques.

Urban school districts and diverse student populations.

ABILITY TO:

Develop, implement and monitor curriculum and programs focused on successful student outcomes.

Read, interpret, apply and examine rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Maintain current knowledge of program rules, regulations, requirements and restrictions.

Assess instructional effectiveness.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Work independently and with little direction.

Plan and organize work.

Compile and verify data and prepare reports.

Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.

Train, supervise and evaluate personnel.

Use word processors, databases, spreadsheets and communication programs on computers.

Find funding opportunities.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

SAMPLE ENVIRONMENT:

Office and school site environment; driving a vehicle to conduct work.

SAMPLE PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Communicating to exchange information and make presentations; seeing to monitor various activities and to read various documents; sitting for extended periods of time; moving quickly around the complex to supervise adults and students.
