BASIC
FUNCTION:
Provide
leadership and assistance in developing, implementing, and coordinating
the district’s Visual and Performing arts program of instruction in
dance, music, theatre, and visual arts.
REPRESENTATIVE
DUTIES: (Incumbents may perform
any combination of the essential functions shown below. This position
description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties,
knowledge, or abilities associated with this classification, but is
intended to accurately reflect the principal job elements.)
Coordinate
the district in the development and implementation of a strategic plan for
an articulated K-12 arts education program.
Develop
implementation strategies to infuse the arts in other core curriculum at
the elementary and middle school level.
Work
with specialist teachers to continue work with standards-based instruction
to better articulate across grade levels at the middle and high school
level.
Work
with high school teachers to continue their work with course alignment to
the State standards and the CSU/UC requirements in the disciplines of
dance, music, theatre, and visual arts.
Work
with the high school for consistency in the standards-based lessons,
units, and end of the course requirements.
Document
and/or coordinate at the district level the professional development in
the arts that is offered at the district and school site level.
Provide
opportunities for middle and high school specialists to work in cohort
groups in specific arts disciplines.
Develop
and implement a comprehensive, long-term professional development plan for
teachers.
Create
a compendium of resources for district teachers to use as a guide in
lesson and unit development.
Perform
other related duties as assigned.
TRAINING,
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any
combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree, and three years of
increasingly responsible certificated experience in a visual and
performing arts program.
LICENSES
AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid
California driver’s license, and provide personal automobile; valid
Teaching Credential.
