BASIC FUNCTION:

District-wide responsibility for coordination, planning, organization, and evaluation of the district’s Regional Occupational Program (ROP) under mandates of Title V.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Coordinate and supervise all ROP activities required to implement a district-wide ROP for all high schools.

Coordinate and supervise all ROP programs under the mandates of Title V.

Develop and implement the annual ROP Education Plan under the terms of the contract between Sacramento City Unified School District and the Sacramento County Office of Education.

Act as a voting representative with the Sacramento County ROP Leadership Team.

Act as a liaison with the Sacramento County Office of Education.

Serve as a district resource person pertaining to federal and state law requiring youth employment and vocational education requirements.

Assist the district in implementation of policies, procedures, and administrative regulations.

Provide leadership in the development of ROP courses, career paths, and academies in the high school.

Provide assistance in establishing innovative high school programs in coordination with the high school segment administration.

Prepare applications, reports, and surveys.

Assist in evaluating the performance of Teachers and Career Information Technicians.

Work as part of the Alternative and Continuing Education Leadership Team to design plans and programs to best address the current and potential needs of the students, businesses, and/or community.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: (continued)

Assist instructors and other personnel in the design of programs best meeting the objectives of the department.

Utilize appropriate data to evaluate effectiveness of district ROP classes.

Develop and manage the ROP budget.

Supervise clerical staff.

Follow up on staff, student, and parent concerns.

Provide or coordinate appropriate training and staff development activities for staff.

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and effective communication with high schools, community, and other outside agencies as appropriate.

Perform related duties as assigned.

TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree, and three years of certificated experience in public education with experience or training in ROP, business partnerships, and curriculum development.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

Valid California driver’s license, and provide personal automobile; Administrative Services Credential or Supervision Credential authorizing service at the secondary level.

Sitting for extended periods of time; hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; kneeling, crouching, or bending at the waist to retrieve or store files; ability to lift 40 pounds.
