|
BASIC FUNCTION:
Serve as the coordinator of
Truancy Reduction and Dropout Prevention Program; chairperson of the
School Attendance Review Board (SARB); supervisor of Outreach Workers;
liaison to community and public agencies. Data collector in regards to all
truancy and dropout prevention programs; provider of professional
development to staff regarding truancy and dropout reduction matters;
district representative at Community Task Force meetings regarding
attendance matters; and disseminator of district communications regarding
attendance matters. Enforce the compulsory school attendance laws as
provided in the Education Code of California; make and supervise home
calls/visits to parents/guardians.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Perform
duties, as necessary, related to Child Welfare and Attendance; develop,
implement, monitor, and evaluate the district’s Truancy Reduction and
Dropout Prevention Programs.
Develop
and implement programs and district policies regarding Truancy Reduction
and Dropout Prevention.
Develop,
monitor, and maintain budget pertaining to Child Welfare and Attendance,
Truancy Reduction, and Dropout Prevention.
Allocate
resource and personnel in the process of implementing district policies
and programs which relate to Truancy Reduction and Dropout Prevention.
Represent
the district as the Chairperson of the School Attendance Review Board (SARB).
Advise
counselors, administrators, parents, and pupils concerning compulsory
education laws and Board of Education administrative regulations
concerning attendance.
Communicate
with district administrators, the Board of Education, SARB, parents, and
outside organizations to coordinate activities, resolve issues or
concerns, or exchange information; recommend student placement or
transfers as appropriate.
On
behalf of the district, file complaints when necessary against parents who
have violated the laws regulating school attendance, and appear in court
regarding such complaints as required.
Work
in close cooperation with other public agencies such as the District
Attorney, the Probation Department, Police and Sheriff Departments, and
community-based organizations to improve the welfare and attendance of the
child.
Assists
the district’s Section 504 Coordinator and district Student Study Team
Coordinator.
Work
in coordination with the district’s Hearing Officer in matters regarding
student re-entry and student behavior hearings.
Provide
professional development to all Truancy and Dropout Prevention personnel.
Serve
as the district’s representative at all County School Attendance Review
Board meetings, and report to Director, Student Support Services.
Represent
the district at all Community Task Force Meetings regarding attendance
matters.
Work
closely with the district Parent Engagement Office and Communications
Department to disseminate information to students, staff, parents, and the
community regarding all attendance issues.
Serve
as a member of the Community, Health and Human Services multidisciplinary
team as assigned.
Perform
related duties as assigned.
TRAINING, EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE:
Any
combination equivalent to: bachelor's degree, and two years increasingly
responsible experience in public or private schools.
LICENSES
AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid
California driver’s license; provide personal automobile; Administrative
Services Credential.

and local laws about school attendance, discipline, transfers, student due
process, and SARB.
