BASIC FUNCTION:

District-wide functional responsibility for coordinating, planning, organizing, and evaluating the district’s K-12 vocation education program under the Carl Perkins Act, School-to-Work Programs, and Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) year around youth employment programs.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Coordinate and supervise the activities outlined in the Comprehensive Plan for School-to-Work (K-12).

Coordinate and supervise all Technical and Vocational Education Programs.

Coordinate the district’s Comprehensive Youth Employment Programs in cooperation with the California Department of Education  and the Sacramento Employment and Training Agency.

Act as a voting representative with all regional consortium advisory boards.

Act as a liaison with all business contacts.

Serve as a district resource person pertaining to federal and state requiring youth employment and vocational education requirements.

Assist the district in implementation of policies, procedures, and administrative regulations.

Provide leadership in the development of high school career academies and career paths.

Prepare federal, state, and local applications, reports, and surveys.

Assist in evaluating the performance of Career Information Technicians.

Make recommendations regarding program effectiveness, program needs, and staffing requirements.

Develop projections, monitor expenditures, and oversee reporting activities or categorical funding sources.

Perform related duties as assigned.

TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree, and two years of certificated experience in public education.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

Valid California driver’s license; provide personal automobile; Administrative Services Credential or Supervision Credential authorizing service at the secondary level.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Planning, organization, and coordination of the Comprehensive School-to-Work (K-12), Technical and Vocational Education Programs, and Comprehensive Youth Employment Programs.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.

Oral and written communication skills.

Principles and practices of management.

Policies, objectives, and terminology of the programs.

ABILITY TO:

Plan, organize, and coordinate the Comprehensive School-to-Work (K-12), Technical and Vocational Education Programs, and Comprehensive Youth Employment Programs.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, parents, and the public.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Meet schedules and timelines.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Office environment; driving a vehicle to conduct work.

SAMPLE PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Sitting for extended periods of time; hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; kneeling, crouching, or bending at the waist to retrieve or store files.
