DEFINITION
Under general supervision, to perform clerical work of average difficulty
in connection with keeping financial records and the typing and preparing
of required reports; and to perform related clerical and fiscal records
maintenance activities.
EXAMPLES
OF DUTIES
Verifies, balances, or adjusts accounts; posts, checks, assembles,
tabulates, and compares financial data; checks invoices, attendance
records, requisitions, purchase orders, and similar fiscal documents, and
forwards them to the proper persons; keeps various financial records,
requiring the use of some independent judgment; prepares bills for fees
due, check applications, and figures weekly rates; answers the telephone
and gives information on the child care program; prepares reports on
monthly milk consumption; prepares bank deposits; types all attendance
forms, requisitions, correspondence, and other materials; and performs
related duties as required.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Modern office procedures and equipment;
Methods, practices, and terminology of financial and statistical clerical
work.

Ability to:
Make arithmetical calculations quickly and accurately;
Perform clerical work of average difficulty;
Learn to use a calculating machine and other office appliances;
Do accurate bookkeeping;
Operate a typewriter.
and
Skills:
Typing speed of 45 net words a minute.
and
Experience:
Two years of experience in preparing and maintaining financial records.
and
Education:
Graduation from high school, preferably including or supplemented by
courses in financial record-keeping.
