DEFINITION
Under supervision to maintain order and attend to needs of students while
they are being transported to and from school.
EXAMPLES
OF DUTIES
Relieves bus driver of the duties of maintaining order among children
while they are being transported to and from school; stops fights and
excessive noise on the part of students; keeps students clean, and cleans
bus when necessary because of student actions; as required, moves about
while bus is in motion in order to attend to needs of students and to
quiet disturbances; assists in loading and unloading of special education
students; and performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Habits of elementary-age children.
and
Ability to:
Be patient and understanding with handicapped special education students;
Maintain balance when standing while bus is in motion and stopping;
Assist in lifting children as required to load, unload, or enable them to
recover from falling while on the bus.
and
Experience:
None is required but preference will be given to those with experience
involving elementary-age children.
and
Education:
Equivalent to completion of the eighth grade.
