DEFINITION
Under general supervision, to perform clerical work of average difficulty
in keeping or checking financial or statistical records; and to perform
tasks which may require the use of a typewriter.
EXAMPLES
OF DUTIES
Verifies, balances, or adjusts accounts; posts, checks, assembles,
tabulates, and compares statistical or financial data; checks invoices,
time records, requisitions, purchase orders, and similar fiscal documents;
codes purchase orders for expenditure classification; keeps various
financial records requiring the use of some independent judgment;
schedules, indexes, and files bills, vouchers, warrants, and other
records; makes arithmetical calculations and checks various statistical or
accounting tables and reports; receives and verifies cash deposits; keeps
journals or subsidiary ledgers; assists in preparing and typing accounting
or statistical reports and schedules; prepares sales tax reports as
required; operates adding and calculating machines; and performs related
duties as required.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Methods, practices, and terminology of financial and statistical clerical
work.

Ability to:
Make arithmetical calculations quickly and accurately;
Perform clerical work of average difficulty;
Learn to use calculating machine and other standard office appliances;
Keep accurate records;
Operate a typewriter.
and
Experience:
One year of experience in the preparation and maintenance of financial
records.
and
Education:
Equivalent to completion of high school, preferably supplemented by
courses in financial record-keeping.
