DEFINITION
Under the general direction of the Manager, Transportation Services,
supervises, coordinates, develops and schedules the school bus driver
training program, assists other Transportation Supervisors when necessary;
and does related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Credential: None required.
and
Education: Any combination or equivalent to graduation from high
school. Preference will be given for advanced degrees or course work
in management, business administration or education.
and
Experience: Two years increasingly responsible experience in school
bus transportation program. Preference will be given to school bus
transportation supervisory experience in a California school district.
and
Licensing/Certification: Preference will be given to persons
possessing a valid California Commercial Driver License Class A or B;
valid California School Bus Certificate; valid California Medical
Examiners Certificate; and a valid California State D.O.E. School Bus
Driver Certificate.
TYPICAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizes
and implements state-mandated bus driver training program.

Develops
district training and instructional program for bus drivers to promote
safe driving habits.

Helps
to develop policies and procedures related to Transportation Services.

Conduct
surveillance of bus routes for hazards, road conditions or in response
to complaints.

Evaluates
employees as assigned.

Utilizes
state-of-the art, two-way radio communications base.

Investigates
and gathers information regarding school bus accidents.
-
Teaches
subject matter in the classroom, and teaches driving skills during
behind-the-wheel driving sessions.

Develops
in-service programs for bus drivers.
-
Confers
with principals and other district officials in scheduling and
coordinating the student bus safety/emergency evacuation program.

Drives
the bus in case of bus driver shortages.
-
Other
related duties as assigned.
