DEFINITION
Under administrative direction of the Adult Education Principal or Adult
Education Specialist, provides services to help implement one or more
special grant funded projects/programs. Such services include
teaching, and/or working with administrators, other teachers, students,
and classified staff through a variety of duties related to the grant
program obligations, but excludes duties associated with hiring, firing,
and evaluation of personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS
Credential: Possession of a valid teaching credential appropriate to
the adult education assignment or credentials of equivalent authorization
issued by the California Commission for Teacher Preparation and Licensing,
is required.

Education: A bachelor's degree from an approved institution is
required; or, if the assignment is in the vocational or employment
services area, five full years of related and verified experience is
required.

Experience: Preference may be given to candidates who have had
successful experience working with official local, state, federal, or
other grant-funding agencies. Must have both excellent
organizational and interpersonal skills verifiable through past
employment.
TYPICAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teachers
project classes assigned by the administration.

Assists
in developing grant proposals and related budgets when requested by
the administrator.

Assists
in interviewing personnel who may work in the project/program;
provides recommendations to the administrator when requested.

Provides
expertise and assistance for implementation and ongoing operation of
the project/program.

Assists
in monitoring the budget for the project/program when requested by the
administrator.

Initiates
purchase requisitions for the project/program at the direction of the
administrator.

Recommends
to the administrator any temporary personnel needs considered
necessary to carry out the goals of the project/program.

Provides
input to the administrator, as requested, for the evaluation of
classified staff working on the project/program.

Informs
and advises the administrator, in a timely manner, of concerns related
to project/program goals attainment, personnel issues, or other
pertinent issues.

Serves
as the project's primary program resource person and provides
assistance and expertise to other personnel working on the
project/program.

Coordinates
tasks of classified and certificated staff members at the direction of
the administrator.

Assists
in curriculum development needed for the project/program.

Assists,
advises, and works with students in order to meet project/program
goals.

Assists
in public relations, program promotion, and outreach recruitment of
students.

Maintains
required records and prepares reports as required by the
administrator.

Attends
meetings as required and directed by the administrator.
WORK
SCHEDULE AND SALARY
The
Teacher on Special Assignment, Adult Education, works on the appropriate
teachers' work year schedule for the assigned site. Additional
services beyond the regular teachers' work year may be offered on the
appropriate hourly or per session schedule when funds are available and
the administrator determines there is need for the service.
