DEFINITION
Provides leadership and assistance in developing and implementing VAPAC's
goals, program and activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Credential: Possession of a standard teaching credential authorizing
service in an area of VAPAC instruction.

Education: A bachelor's degree from an approved institution is
required.
and
Experience: A minimum of three years of certificated experience in a
VAPAC area of instruction is required.
TYPICAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Teaches
in accordance with the abilities and achievements of the pupils
assigned to his or her classes, and in conformance with the district's
philosophy, goals and objectives as expressed in the board's adopted
courses of study.

Assists
in the development and review of the program budget.

Maintains
and coordinates the calendar related to VAPAC events.

Assists
in the recruitment of non-certificated VAPAC specialists.
-
Assists
in interpreting the goals of the VAPAC program with the community.
-
Plans
and maintains articulation with feeder schools and post-secondary
institutions.

Works
cooperatively with the principal, counselor, department chairs, and
teachers regarding the program and progress of students within the
VAPAC program.

Assists
in the interviewing and recruitment of VAPAC students with emphasis on
minority and at-risk students.

Plans
and develops promotional and program materials.
-
Serves
as liaison with similar programs within state.

Facilitates
and coordinates the visitation of artists and speakers.

Assists
in the effort to seek funding and in-kind contributions for the VAPAC
program.

Executes
and prepares such forms, records and reports, as may be called for in
the management of the schools.

Attends
meetings called by order of the principal or other administrator
authorized to call meetings.

Supervises
extra curriculum activities as directed.

Attends
and participates in required in-service training activities and works
with his/her principal in planning his own in-service program.

Adheres
to schedules regarding days and hours of service.
WORK
SCHEDULE AND SALARY
A
Resource Teacher, VAPAC (Visual and Performing Arts Centre) serves on the
days schools are in session plus required non-teaching service days, and
is placed on the teachers' salary schedule according to his/her training
and experience.
