DEFINITION
Under direction to supervise the development of children from two years of
age through the elementary school years who are enrolled in the children's
center.
QUALIFICATIONS
Credential: Possession of a valid California Children's Center
Permit or General Elementary Teaching Credential, Standard Teaching
Credential with Specialization in Elementary Teaching, or Standard
Teaching Credential with Specialization in Early Childhood Education.

Experience: Preference will be given to those candidates who have
demonstrated outstanding ability in previous children's center teaching
experience.
TYPICAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Works
to further the development of the children assigned to him/her in
conformance with the goals and objectives of the Children's Centers
Program.

Develops
activities and experiences which are consistent with the established
Children's Centers Program goals and objectives.

Maintains
plans and a schedule of activities in such a way that they can be
utilized by substitutes when the need arises.

Maintains
a behavioral climate conducive to learning. Works cooperatively
with the supervisor and supportive staff in attempting to resolve
problems related to the behavior of children.

Identifies
and attempts to meet special needs of children and initiates referrals
as necessary.

Communicates
with parents. Prepares progress reports and provides other
information appropriate for inclusion in the children's center records
of children assigned to him/her.

Works
cooperatively with host school staff and other district personnel to
foster ongoing articulation.

Assists
in maintaining acceptable behavior throughout the center.

Exercises
supervision and care over all furniture, books, supplies and equipment
in the center and instructs children in the proper use and
preservation of center property.

Executes
and prepares such forms, records and reports as may be called for in
the management of the center.

Attends
meetings called by the children's center supervisor, director or other
administrator authorized to call meetings.

Attends
and participates in required in-service training activities and works
with children's center supervisor in planning his/her own in-service.

Serves,
as requested, on center and district-wide committees.

Assists
in interpreting the program and goals of the Children's Centers
Program to the community.
WORK
SCHEDULE AND SALARY
The
Children's Center Teacher's work schedule is assigned by the supervisor
and may be changed to meet the needs of the children served. The
teacher is placed on Work/Vacation Schedule A and is placed on the
Children's Center Salary Schedule in accordance with training and
experience.
