The Sacramento City Unified School District is dedicated to keeping its community informed on budget developments at the state and local level that affect funding to our schools. For that reason, SCUSD’s Communications Department has created this Budget News page. Please continue to check in for updates.
If the Governor and state legislators are not able to come to an agreement that provides adequate funding for public education, the Governor has said he will ask for an “all-cuts” budget to balance the state’s $26 billion deficit.
An all-cuts budget would reduce public school funding significantly. SCUSD would face a $22.35 million shortfall. On February 17 and March 3, the Board of Education made painful cuts to the 2011-12 budget to account for this deficit. These cuts were necessary for SCUSD to submit a balanced budget to the Sacramento County Office of Education.
