The role of the Legal Services Department is to provide effective
legal support, representation, and guidance to the Sacramento
City Unified School District Governing Board, Superintendent,
Cabinet members and their associated department and site
personnel and to ensure the District is in compliance with
applicable laws and regulations. In addition, the Legal
Services Department provides in-service training to District
staff. The Legal Services Department does not provide
services to parents, students, or the general public and does not
advise individual employees on personal matters.
Our mission is to effectively represent the Sacramento City
Unified School District by providing advice, counsel, and staff
training in support of the District’s Strategic Plan and Three
Pillars; to aggressively protect and advance the interest of the
District and the students it exists to serve; and provide
services in a professional, expeditious and cost-effective manner
to support the District’s Mission of students graduating as
globally competitive lifelong learners, prepared to succeed in a
career and higher education institution of their choice to secure
gainful employment and contribute to society.
