We will enroll up to 150 freshmen for the fall of 2008 – Please sign up at Open Enrollment on line at www.scusd.edu January 9 through 18, 2008 or in-person  January 15 through 18, 2008 (8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.)  In addition to Open Enrollment you need to drop off Art Benjamin Enrollment paperwork at the school office at 451 McClatchy Way in Sacramento.

Art Benjamin HPHS is an incredible school – offering a rigorous career and college preparatory education using healthcare as a theme.  This is the school to attend if you want to investigate medicine or healthcare – or if you already know you want to be a doctor, nurse or vet.

The HPHS is open to all students.  Essentially the school provides a very high quality education to students of all interests.  Health systems and hospitals have thousands of position descriptions for future careers – we will work to place our students in job shadows, then internships that are of high interest to individual students.

Students learn in an extremely supportive environment that blends positive relationships with adults, a solid academic foundation and community centered learning.

Students develop a passion for service and cultural understanding.  A commitment to service is essential for success in today’s careers.  The program has service learning components imbedded as major milestones in the curriculum.

Art Benjamin HPHS has:

  • A supportive, safe environment
  • Summer Orientation Camp
  • Services for English Learners and Special Education students
  • Curricula and instruction modeled using researched based NCEE and NCHSTE designs
  • A relevant, healthcare-centered instructional approach
  • Extensive job shadows, internships and early post-secondary education experiences
  • Extensive use of technology, computer based and other health care tools
  • Medical Professional/Student lunches
  • Service learning as a component at all grade levels
  • Each student assigned a supportive, compatible advisor for his/her high school career
  • Daily tutorials and/or ramp-up classes
