Participation Requirements

  • Are you an expecting or parenting Male/Female student?
  • Are you a teen Parent?
  • Do you live in Sacramento County?
  • Are you 18 years of age or younger?
  • Have you not graduated from high school?
  • Are you enrolled in a Sacramento City Unified School District school?
  • Are you working toward completion of your high school diploma?

Services Offered

Educational Opportunities

  • Comprehensive Curriculum appropriate to grade level in:
    • Self-contained classroom
    • Our district school
    • Independent study
    • Academic and career counseling
    • Referrals to tutor support
    • Resources for post graduate planning
    • Parenting and/or life skills class
    • Parenting and/or life skills class
    • Pregnancy education including prenatal, child birth and pregnancy prevention
    • Child development lab, providing a safe, developmental environment for infants and toddlers

Social Services

  • Connections to district and community resources
  • Monthly support contact
  • Weekly 1.5 hour home visits (Early Head Start Home Base Program) Bi-Monthly socializations
  • Crisis intervention
  • Transportation (bus pass)
  • Access to employment training resources
  • Referrals to Cal-LEARN/AFLP
  • Referrals to counseling resources for students and their families

Health Education

  • Pre and post-natal supervision by nurses
  • Labor and delivery education and support
  • Nutrition Education
  • Nutritional supplements for pregnant and lactating teens
  • Free breakfast and lunch available
  • Special Needs Education
  • Referrals to medical, dental and other health care services

Children’s Services

  • Infant, toddler and preschool childcare at  American Legion High School and Hiram Johnson Family Education Center
