Mark
Twain's mission is to build a positive school environment to meet the
needs of each student by providing opportunities to develop academic and
social skills necessary to meet grade level standards. Our specific
school goals are to provide a safe environment for students and staff,
to instill an eagerness on the part of students to attend school, to
provide student programs which respond to cultural and ethnic diversity,
and to have good communication between students, parents and teachers.

Extracurricular activities at Mark
Twain contribute to the excitement of school and include our math
contest, physical education Play Day, spelling bee, Halloween parade,
honor choir and after-school athletics. We also feature performing arts
assemblies and programs and a Careers with Children program through the
neighboring Hiram Johnson High School West Campus. In addition, Mark
Twain offers GATE as well as special education services.
Services for
parents include a teacher's monthly newsletter, back-to-school night,
open hour, special needs conferences, PTA, and of course, regular
notices and information. |
