Four Beliefs
frame our decisions and create
a cycle of achievement:
1. Responsibility and accountability
for student success are shared by students, parents/legal guardians
and school staff.
2. Teacher and student values and
experiences are esteemed, and help to shape choices, school climate
and curriculum.
3. Trust among all is vital to
success.
4. Success at school connects the
student to a world of possibilities that help prepare them for future
responsibilities.
The Five
Anchors frame our plan, namely:
- Creating a pro-social learning
environment.
- Ensuring a safe and secure
physical plant.
- Fostering respectful
relationships.
- Promoting acceptance of diversity.
- Insisting on academic success for
all students.
In addition to
providing district adopted curriculum, site and district data are
disaggregated for assessment, benchmarking and planning purposes in
order to develop extended learning opportunities based on student needs.
Some of our
unique programs include:
The
Intermediate Corrective Reading Program,
which is uniquely designed to target specific student learning styles in
order to accelerate the high level of literacy achievement.
Best
Practices from the Center for Research and Teaching Excellence
begins this year. Teachers are trained in best research practices in
teaching reading comprehension and vocabulary, mathematics, and English
Language Development instruction for students who are becoming more
proficient in English.
We believe, as
a joint community, we can work together to provide academically
challenging experiences, as well as provide for extended opportunities
at Freeport.
The extended
day activities that ensure that all children will work at grade level.
The home
visitation program so that teachers and parents will get to know and
appreciate each other in the best interest of our students.
At Freeport
Elementary School … something meaningful happens for every student,
every day! Carole Thomas,
