Program Goals & Results
    

1) Excellence Mini-Grants

Annual grants to schools, teachers and student programs to improve student achievement and other identified school district outcomes.  Grant monies are derived from annual State, Federal and District United Way Campaigns.  Contributions which are designated to the Sacramento City Educational Foundation go directly to support $500 grants to school site programs and projects.

Goal:  

To provide resources to schools and classrooms to enhance student achievement.

Results:

1) Students will be provided with an enriched learning environment.
2) Students will have a greater interest in school and learning.

Success Indicators:

1) Students will demonstrate growth in learning as a result of the funded projects.
2) Students will show increased interest in learning as a result of the projects.

2) Scholarships

Provision of financial scholarships to qualified students for post-secondary education.

Goal:

To provide scholarships for post-secondary educational programs to minority, underprivileged high school graduates.

Results:

1) Students will receive support in continuing their education beyond high school.
2) Students who otherwise might not be able to afford continuing education will be able to do so.

Success Indicators:

More students will enroll in post-secondary educational programs.

3) Road To Success

In collaboration with Regional Transit, bus passes are provided to middle and high school students identified by Student Outreach Workers as at-risk of school failure due to attendance problems.

Goal:

1) To enhance achievement of students by removing barriers to school attendance.
2) To increase school attendance for students at-risk of failure from truancy due to lack of transportation to school.

Results:

1) At-risk students without means to purchase bus passes will be provided RT passes so long as they maintain a good attendance record.
2) Participating students will improve in academic performance due to improved attendance.

Success Indicators:

1) Improved attendance of participating students.
2) Improved academic achievement of participating students.
