Every day, staff, students, parents and partners go above and beyond to ensure that SCUSD schools are safe, healthy and sustainable places for students to learn.

To recognize and honor these efforts, SCUSD has created the first-ever Green Apple Awards.

Consider ways in which you and your school have “gone green” this year and submit a nomination form in any or all of the Green School Award categories listed below. Nominations will be based on each nominee’s accomplishments in various categories of sustainability applicable to their role within the school environment.

Award Categories

2015-2016 nominations will be accepted for the following categories: 

  •  School Green Team of the Year

Selection Criteria – Accomplishment of goals or projects, time spent educating other students or community, impact of projects and/or initiatives on school or district

  •  Teacher/Educator of the Year

Selection Criteria – Dedication to sustainability at school, formation of green team or comparable group, incorporation of sustainability education into classroom, impact of efforts on school or district

  •  Principal of the Year

Selection Criteria – Dedication to sustainability at school, promotion of sustainability activities, projects, and/or initiatives, leadership in creating green and sustainable learning environment

  •  Green Project/Initiative of the Year

Selection Criteria – Increase in environmental literacy, engagement of students and staff, improvement in the health and sustainability of facilities
