West Campus High School junior Celeste Romano won first place in the Senior Division in the category of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the Sacramento Regional Science and Engineering Fair held at Rosemont High School on March 24. Her project, “The Effect of Sleep Deprivation on Students’ Ability to Discern Facial Emotions,” compared high school students’ ability to recognize expressions before and after lengthy physical activity and sleep deprivation.  This student-designed experiment also displayed gender differences under these conditions.  Congratulations!
