Wenzel’s First-Grade Heroes Rewarded with Trip to Hollywood
The heroic actions of three Caroline Wenzel Elementary School first-graders have led to an invitation to visit the Los Angeles set of the kids’ sitcom “A.N.T. Farm” – courtesy the Disney Channel. Last week, first-grader Aniyah Rigmaiden began to choke on a piece of an apple at lunch in the school’s cafeteria. Anthony Roy Jr. noticed that Aniyah was turning red and grabbing her throat. He yelled “Aniyah’s choking!” which prompted Elspeth “Beanie” Mar, also a first-grader, to perform the Heimlich maneuver on her friend, successfully dislodging the apple.
When asked by Principal Judy Montgomery where she learned the Heimlich, Beanie said “A.N.T. Farm,” a Disney Channel show. The kids have since been featured in the Sacramento Bee, local TV stations, ABC news and “Good Morning America.” Today, the Disney Channel offered to fly the students and their families to Los Angeles to tour the show’s set and meet the actors. Way to go Wenzel kids!
