Tonight’s report card meeting rescheduled to June 2
Tonight’s meeting on revisions to the K-6 report card has been rescheduled to June 2.
The meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Serna Center Community Rooms. Translators will be available and childcare will be provided.
SCUSD’s new elementary school report cards are aligned to the Common Core State Standards, which define what students should know and be able to do at every grade level.
The Common Core State Standards are more rigorous than the old California Content Standards and require deeper thinking, analysis, problem-solving and academic writing.
California and almost all other states adopted the Common Core because they will better prepare students for college and for the 21st century workplace.
The report cards show how students are progressing toward meeting the standards. After initial feedback on the report cards from the community, the district changed the formatting. The revised versions will be available for review at the upcoming meetings.
