Sound nutrition vital to good health
Sacramento City Unified is updating its Wellness Policy. Changes will be presented to the Board in May, but it’s not too late to share your thoughts about proposed revisions to the policy or to make suggestions.
The costs related obesity for health and the economy are staggering. A 2010 UCLA study about obesity among children and its impact, reported that “Nationally, medical costs alone for obesity reach $147 billion each year. California spends more public and private money on the health consequences of obesity than any other state.” The study went on to report that including lost productivity, overweight and obesity in California cost families, employers, the healthcare industry and the government more than $21 billion each year.
