Vans Custom Culture Contest

C.K. McClatchy High School student Sebastian Rosas is hoping to be among the final five competitors in the eighth annual Vans Custom Culture Design Competition with his shoe designs. Rosas is now one of the 50 semifinalists hoping to advance to the final round through an online voting system which ends May 10. Rosas is a student in the Visual and Performing Arts program at McClatchy.

Vans provided the students with four pairs of blank Vans shoes, which they reimagined to represent four themes of the Vans’ “Off the Wall” lifestyle: action sports, arts, music and local flavor.

The online voting will determine the five finalists who will make it to the finals and compete for $50,000 for their school’s art program. The top 5 will travel to Los Angeles on all-expenses paid trip for judging. The four runner-up schools will win $4,000 for their participation. May 10 is the last day to vote for the finalists.
