Lisa Markuson, an alumna of SCUSD (Didion, Pony Express, Sutter and McClatchy-HISP) brought her love of poetry recently to two elementary schools: Camellia and Susan B. Anthony, where her mother, Gwen, is a teacher.

Markuson is the founder of “The Haiku Guys and Gals” of Brooklyn, a program in which she entertains audiences at corporate events by writing a personal haiku for each guest in less than a minute per haiku.

Last week, Markuson, who was in Sacramento visiting, held three workshops at Camellia Basic. This week, she presented another three workshops at Susan B. Anthony. All workshops were engaging for both students and staff.
