School resumes September 1 with new dismissal times
Bell schedule adjustments will allow for teacher planning time

e-Connections Post

Starting this fall, SCUSD is giving teachers dedicated time every week to get together and plan lessons, share ideas and discuss ways to improve instruction.

Research shows that educators who regularly collaborate are more effective in the classroom and that students benefit from teachers working closely with their peers.

To accommodate this collaborative time, SCUSD is adjusting fall bell schedules at every school. Students will be released early on Thursdays, including the first day of school on September 1. All other days, students will stay in school a little longer than last year.

Weekly teacher planning sessions are vital to helping our schools maximize their full potential to support students. Teachers will be better supported, too, and students will benefit from this collective approach to learning.
