Rally at the Capitol kicks off National Bullying Prevention Month

e-Connections Post

SCUSD staff and students participated in a rally at the Capitol yesterday to kick off National Bullying Prevention Month.

The Stand Up! Speak Out! Youth Rally Against Bullying was sponsored by the Sacramento Regional Coalition for Tolerance. National Bullying Prevention Month was created in 2006 by PACER (Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights). To learn how you can get involved in anti-bullying activities, visit the PACER website by clicking here.

In July 2011, SCUSD launched a comprehensive bullying prevention program focused on reducing bullying and harassment of students district-wide. The program is designed to address the issue of bullying systemically and follows the district’s strategic plan on bullying prevention developed in August 2011 (see attachment).

The SCUSD School Board also adopted an Anti Bullying policy in June 2011 (see attachment) to help ensure a caring and nondiscriminatory learning environment for all students.
