e-Connections Post

Three PTAs are sponsoring a forum on Thursday to hear from candidates who have applied to represent Area 1 on the SCUSD Board of Education in the wake of Trustee Ellyn Bell’s recent resignation.

The forum will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday in the California Middle School library, 1600 Vallejo Way. The event is sponsored by the Crocker/Riverside, C.K. McClatchy and Cal PTAs.

Each candidate will be invited to make a three-minute opening statement. The public will be asked to submit questions on index cards at the beginning of the event. Questions will be sorted to ensure a balance between topics, constituencies and various schools sites of Area 1.

Moderator Laurie Hensley, Cal Middle PTA President, will pose questions from selected index cards. Some questions may be posed to specific candidates and/or the same question may be presented to all candidates.

Candidates will also have the opportunity to make a one-minute closing statement.

Area 1 schools include Bret Harte, California, C.K. McClatchy, Crocker/Riverside, John Cabrillo, Leataata Floyd, Sam Brannan, Sutterville, The Met, Washington and William Land.

The Board of Education is scheduled to make an appointment for the post on December 20. Click here to read the candidate’s application packets.
