Nailing success: Construction students get real-world experience

e-Connections Post

Students from the Luther Burbank High School Construction and Design Pathway are competing today and tomorrow (May 7 and 8) in the annual Design/Build Competition sponsored by the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange.

Student teams from around the region compete to design and build a shed/playhouse in this two-day event. The competition is designed to give students a “real world” work experience, while giving them some artistic freedom.

This year, the Luther Burbank team has decided to go all out and build a small lighthouse. The complexity of the design requires multiple angled cuts and is an authentic lesson in both algebra and geometry.

Please come out and support the Burbank team. The event is being held in the southwest parking lot of Consumnes River College on May 7 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and May 8 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
