Live Proud Youth Leadership Conference draws students from seven schools

e-Connections Post

SCUSD’s Student Support and Health Services (SSHS) Department and the Connect Center sponsored the third annual LGBTQA Youth Leadership Conference, LIVE PROUD on May 3 at The Met Sacramento High School.

Student leaders from seven Sacramento area schools came together to discuss issues that affect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and ally (LGBTQA) youth, and ways to empower themselves and their peers as student leaders.

Students learned about community resources, diversity within the LGBTQA community and how to strengthen school-based Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) clubs.

Both middle and high school students participated in the conference, giving older students the opportunity to reach out to their younger peers with support and advice. For more information about services, call Emily Herr at (916) 643-7997.
