Learn more about what’s cooking at the Central Kitchen on June 7

e-Connections Post

District families, staff and community members are cordially invited to learn more about the Central Kitchen initiative at a community meeting on Wednesday, June 7th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Hiram Johnson High School Cafeteria (6879 14th Ave, Sacramento, CA 95820). Light refreshments will be provided.

We are excited to announce the launch of the Central Kitchen project. This project was approved by voters in 2012 as part of Measure R. The Central Kitchen will allow the district to serve healthy, good tasting food to our students. Scratch cooking, more local sourcing for fruits and vegetables and fresh and daily prepared offerings are a few of the concepts behind a central kitchen. Through the Central Kitchen, the district is working to improve consistency in food quality and ensure food safety from product delivery to consumption.

Meeting Purpose

To inform the community about the status of the project, explain next steps and solicit community feedback and input.

Who Should Attend

District staff and designers, community members, parents, students and anyone interested in learning more about the project. Attendees will be able to share their thoughts and ask questions about the Central Kitchen.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, please email your comments or suggestions to central-kitchen@scusd.edu
