Get involved in the future of our schools
SCUSD is seeking members for our Bond Oversight Committee! This committee will be tasked with reviewing the Board of Education’s use of $414 million in bond funds approved by voters in November through passage of Measures Q and R.
Measures Q and R will fund a wide range of facility improvements to make SCUSD’s aging campuses healthier and better learning environments for children, including:
• Classroom, science lab and technology upgrades
• Heating and ventilation renovations
• Student safety and security improvements
• Roof, restroom and plumbing repairs
• Playground and playfield repairs
• Hazard removal
• Kitchen upgrades
State law requires SCUSD to create an independent citizens’ oversight committee to review the Board of Education’s allocation of the funds. The structure of the Bond Oversight Committee is dictated by law as well – there must be a minimum of seven members representing the following:
• Senior citizens
• Parents and guardians
• Parent-teacher organizations
• Taxpayer organizations
This committee is not only required by legislation, but is also extremely important because each member acts as the eyes and ears of the public, reporting to each of their representative areas.
Are you someone that wants to get involved in your community school district? Please consider joining the Measures Q and R Bond Oversight Committee.
