Nearly 1,800 people attended last weekend’s SCUSD College Fair at John F. Kennedy High School, including more than 640 Sacramento City Unified students.

Seventy-seven colleges and universities were represented at the annual event. College staff handed out information, answered questions and encouraged students to pursue their dreams.

The afternoon was especially exciting for Claire Pelote, a sophomore at George Washington Carver School of Arts and Science, who was the lucky winner of the door prize, a Lenovo Touchpad.

Fern Bacon Middle School brought their students from their College Readiness classes.

The students in attendance were asked to fill out information on the colleges that interested them and to identify the three levels of colleges all students should plan for: “Dream College,” “Target College” and “Safety School.”

The Kennedy High School Criminal Justice students helped with crowd control.
