‘Heroes to Helpers’ brightens the holidays for SCUSD families
Sacramento Police Department and the Target store on 65th Street partnered with Ethel I. Baker, Camellia Basic, Oak Ridge, Earl Warren and Joseph Bonnheim elementary schools this past holiday season to brighten winter break for SCUSD families.
Ten students from the five schools were given $250 each to purchase gifts for themselves and family members at the store. Police officers chaperoned each student and helped them shop.
At the end of their shopping, the students were taken to a gift wrapping station and any presents for their family members were wrapped.
The officers and Target employees who were a part of the event volunteered their time. Breakfast was also provided for the students and their families before the shopping event.
