A new grant program from Treasurer John Chiang and ScholarShare plans to award $300,000 to California’s K-8 public and charter schools in 2017. The ScholarShare Scholar Dollars grant program can support extracurricular and enrichment programs, such as new science lab equipment, band uniforms, tutoring programs and more. Help your local school by voting for them at Based on your school’s size, this grant can offer $5,000 to $25,000 in critical funds.

Participating Sacramento City Unified schools are: William Land, Hubert Bancroft, Crocker/Riverside, O. W. Erlewine, Tahoe and Bowling Green Elementary Schools; Leonardo da Vinci, Rosa Parks and Martin L. King, Jr. K-8 Schools and Sutter Middle School.

Deadline for voting is 8 p.m. (PST) on March 24.
